Meet Our All Star Ninjas

Rob Matheny

Rob is one half of the dynamic duo who founded and currently manages Service Ninja. In his first career, Rob was a member of the Navy. He tried his capable hands at a few different jobs after he was discharged. The first of these jobs was at a sheet metal union. Then, he worked a handful of different HVAC jobs that were mostly union and governmental jobs. However, Rob decided he wanted to be in control of his own destiny. He had lofty goals and a vision of owning his own business geared toward the service industry, and he started to take the steps toward his goals.

Rob started Reliability Home in 2000, with just himself and his chosen partner, with the intention of delivering personalized service solutions to the community within the spectrum of HVAC services. It was slow and arduous growth, as most businesses are, with hard lessons and many learning curves. When their home office was built, Rob’s wife, Amy, began filling in and helping the business grow in her own way.

Once business was stable, Rob began helping coach the local contractors in the HVAC industry who were struggling to succeed without a clear path before them. He wrote the informative book “Be a Service Ninja” and advertised it as “A Comprehensive Guide to running your Service Business .”Rob used his years of experience in business to layout a revolutionary system designed to help any service business advance and grow.

Amy Matheny

Amy is the other half of Service Ninja. A former emergency veterinary technician for 15 years, Amy also attended and graduated nursing school in 2012. When Reliability Home started to grow, Amy left her nursing career to go full-time with Rob and help manage the company. She began at the bottom, helping with the office work and developing policies and processes for the company, and digitizing the paper records, which ultimately improved the use of technology and the way information is stored within the company.

Today, this graduate of the John Maxwell leadership program is a General Manager of a multi-million dollar home services company and has effectively established herself as a visionary thought-leader for women in the Home Services industry. Amy has been integral in the formulation of a section of Service Ninjas that is targeted at women in the industry.

Not only is Amy a credit to her industry in the business field, but she also finds the time in her daily life to be a mother, both to her own children and other peoples’ children, as a licensed foster parent. In addition to the roles of business owner and mother, Amy is a board member of Soup for the Soul- a local soup kitchen community program that hosts a food security program for those in need within the community. Amy truly believes that while we are all only one person, one person doing all they can to affect change can have a widespread effect on the wider world that surrounds them, consequently feeding improvement, financial assistance, progress, and eventually collective success back into the community.

What It Means for Your Business

Rob’s story is one of hard work, education, commitment to learning and growing, and eventually success. His heart and soul have been poured into Reliability Home and Service Ninja, with the sole purpose of sharing his wealth of knowledge and experiences with the masses. Rob believes that anyone, no matter their background in this industry, can always benefit from support, encouragement, advice, and solid business plans.

His plans stood the test of time and show that grassroots businesses can succeed in spite of the seemingly impossible obstacles that lay before them. Rob is proud to be an industry leader and hopes that everyone can learn from his legacy.

Amy understands that a people-centered approach is the most successful way to move your business forward. She believes in applying this concept to all people, with a special focus on the women who help populate the industry but still do not consider themselves part of the legacy of women in the service industry. Between the two of them, they’re able to offer a coaching program like no other. They’re true Ninjas and are excited to show you their ways.
